Heating and Air Conditioning Installation

No matter how reliable your heating and cooling system may be, there will come a time when it should be replaced. Most heating and air conditioning systems last for 15 to 20 years, but they can show signs of wear and tear after about a decade. If you know your current system is close to 20 years old or if it needs frequent repairs, it’s probably time for something new. Our technicians can work with you to find the right heating and cooling system for your household’s needs.

HVAC Maintenance and Tune-Ups

Like any complicated machinery, your heating and air conditioning system needs regular maintenance to keep working efficiently. Some of this maintenance involves things you can do yourself, such as cleaning your outdoor AC unit or replacing your air filter, but your entire system needs at least one tune-up a year from a heating and cooling expert. It’s best to schedule this tune-up in the spring or early fall when temperatures outside are relatively mild. That way, if you need more extensive repairs, you can schedule them before the main heating or cooling season starts.

A heating and cooling system tune-up usually includes the following steps:

Cleaning the coils on the outdoor AC unit
Checking refrigerant levels
Tightening all electrical connections
Calibrating the thermostat
Lubricating moving parts
Inspecting ductwork
Cleaning the condensate drain
Testing the system

Liberty W assisted us with a plumbing problem with another one of our toilets (she repaired a different one last year about 11 months ago). She was great, very knowledgeable gave us an estimate and made arrangements to get the necessary parts ordered and today she completed the repair. She’s very professional and we highly recommend her!

Response from the owner:Thank you, Jennifer! We’re thrilled to hear that Liberty W. and Jarrod J. provided excellent service, gave you a clear estimate, and helped make arrangements for your plumbing repair. We truly appreciate your 5-star review and your trust in Dog House! A little behind-the-scenes about us: Since 2000, our owner John and his wife Maria have adopted more than 23 dogs, many of them seniors or special needs, from both local shelters and out-of-state rescues. Josh M. did an amazing - and fast! - job replacing the seal under our sink. He diagnosed the problem in minutes, explained to me what failed and how it needed to be replaced, then double checked that he had the necessary parts to complete the repair right then. The price was very fair, payment was easy to complete, and I discovered that Dog House can service our mini splits too. Happy to make them a one-stop-shop for our plumbing and HVAC needs. Thanks, Josh!

Response from the owner:Thank you for the 5-star review, Gabriel! We’re so glad to hear Josh M. took great care of you, quickly diagnosed the issue, and got everything fixed efficiently. Clear communication and being prepared to complete the repair on the spot are exactly what we aim for. We’re also happy to hear you discovered we service mini splits as well. We appreciate the opportunity to be your one-stop shop for both plumbing and HVAC needs. Excellent service from Dog House and Cole S. Friendly and courteous people from setting up the appointment for maintenance on our oil furnace to Cole doing a thorough job and advising us what might be needed in the future. No hard, up-sell; just consultative education to ensure we have no surprises throughout the winter. Signed an annual maintenance contract. Cole is welcomed back anytime.

Technicians came on time and correctly diagnosed the problem. It turned out to be a strictly electrical issue which I could track down myself and easily fix. Knowing the problem in the first place, of course, was essential. Hannah was particularly persistent and took the time to establish the problem. I would trust them with future work we may need.

Response from the owner:Thank you for the wonderful review, Christopher! Sometimes the most important part of a service call is getting to the bottom of what's causing the problem. We're glad Hannah took the time to track it down so you could take care of the repair yourself. We'll be sure to share your kind words with her!
